About Araku Valley
Geography
Araku lies inland from Visakhapatnam in Alluri Sitharama Raju district, among the Ananthagiri–Araku ranges. Coffee and pepper share the slopes; streams feed seasonal falls. The valley is cooler than the coast, especially after sunset.
History
The region is home to Adivasi communities of the Eastern Ghats. The railway and ghat road later opened Araku to visitors from Vizag. Coffee estates and the tribal museum in town now sit alongside older forest paths and weekly markets.
Climate and weather
Pleasant most of the year compared with the coast. October–February is ideal. Monsoon makes waterfalls fuller but roads need extra time. Summers are milder than Vizag but still warm at midday.
